Grunwald is a reporter on the national staff of
The Washington Post.
In March 2006, Simon & Schuster published his first
book, the critically acclaimed

Everglades, Florida, and the Politics of Paradise.

His program will describe how the Everglades have had a
significant impact on Florida history and politics.

Dr. Paul Gray
The Human and Natural History of the Okeechobee Water
Shed
Dr. Gray
is the Science Coordinator of Audubon of Florida’s Lake
Okeechobee Watershed Program. He primarily works with
technical and policy teams designing and implementing
the various restoration plans in the region, including
the Everglades restoration, the Lake Okeechobee
Protection Plan, the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes Long Term
Management Plan, and the Kissimmee River Restoration. He
will discuss the various ecosystems of the region and
the human settlement of it.

Shannon Estenoz
Land & Water: Securing enough for People, Farms & the
Everglades
Shannon
Estenoz is from the National Parks Conservation
Association and will present a look at how our two most
precious and scarce natural resources are being divided
among three entities: a growing population,
agriculture, and a restored Everglades ecosystem. We
will explore why restoring the Everglades is important
to the sustainability of south Florida, and the role the
public plays in this restoration.
