Building A Scholastic Heritage FAQ

WHAT IS BASH?  BASH (Building A Scholastic Heritage) was started as a fundraiser in the school year 1984-85 by a Benjamin School parent, Mrs. Barbara Nicklaus.  In 2006-07 BASH will celebrate its 23rd  anniversary.  BASH is an umbrella for a yearlong series of fund-raising events.

WHAT ARE THE EVENTS AND PROJECTS FOR THIS  YEAR?  This year’s events include: gift wrap sales, special BASH lunch days, other special projects, the golf tournament October 13, 2006 at Lost Tree Village, the BASH Fashion Luncheon November 11, 2006 at the Cohen Pavillion at The Kravis Center, Kids’ Korner December 4-8, our annual BASH Variety Show on January 13th at Eissey Theatre and, our main fund raising event, the BASH Gala Dinner & Auction which will be held at The Benjamin Upper School on April 21, 2007.

HOW DO BASH FUNDS HELP THE BENJAMIN SCHOOL?
Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating a Benjamin School student.  BASH proceeds are used to help fund the Teachers’ Wish List for special classroom needs, the Scholars in Residence Program, technology improvements, financial aid, the Marshall Benjamin Endowment, and many other budgetary needs.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
There are three ways friends of the School can support BASH and benefit Benjamin School students:  corporate support in the form of cash sponsorship, gift-in-kind donations to either the fall luncheon or the gala auction and/or advertising in our event programs.

HOW DO DONORS BENEFIT?
Benefits for sponsors vary but include recognition, and may include complimentary seating at some events.  Gift-in-kind donors receive recognition by having their names and donations listed in the event programs.  All cash & gift-in-kind donations are tax deductible.  Advertisers may purchase ad space in the Fashion Luncheon and/or Gala programs.  In addition, all sponsors, donors and advertisers are listed by specialty in the Buc Ad Pages in the center of the Benjamin School phone directory, which is published yearly for Benjamin School families.
