Enrichment Electives & Clubs Enrichment electives and clubs are designed to enhance the curriculum for both students and faculty. These electives allow students and teachers with heavy after school schedules to have the freedom to explore areas of interest. Enrichment electives and clubs are to be taken seriously by students, as effort grades will be awarded each semester. Clubs are student centered and project oriented. Each club completes a service project to benefit the Middle School community and/or The Benjamin School at large. Dance This class is an accelerated dance class for the serious dancer. Students work on improving their technique. Advanced turns, progressions and jumps are practiced, as well as choreography. Students start to choreograph their own patterns to be used in performance. Foreign Language Club This club includes many different aspects of foreign language. Watch and analyze foreign films, create a bilingual online magazine, discuss cultural issues and more. Join the fun of traveling around the world without stepping foot off the campus! Math Counts This course helps prepare students to compete in Math Counts, a national math enrichment competition. Students compete individually and as part of a team. Students should have a strong desire to have their math skills challenged and sharpened. Participants must be in the 7th or 8th grade, be willing to be available on a Saturday in February and be committed for 2 quarters. Strings Club Students who have their own string instrument: violin, viola, cell, etc. (NO guitar) study appropriate musical selections for presentation. |
