The 7th and 8th grade drama class performed Edgar Lee Masters'
Spoon River Anthology
in the Benjamin School Music Center. The play consists of a series of monologues spoken by
townspeople who lived in the fictional town of Spoon River, Illinois in
the late 19th century. Each character has come back to tell his or her
life story. Great entertainment! Photo Presentation

Mrs.
Higginbotham's second graders learned about their Olympic country when Ms.
Lovell's first period class spent the morning teaching the
eager students about the geography and culture of Egypt. During their second
grade visit, the Middle School history students displayed posters
illustrating symbols of the Egyptian alphabet to describe the ancient
writings of hieroglyphics. They discussed the cities, the Nile
River, pyramids and other interesting facts. Egyptian headdresses were
modeled to explain the attire of the historical time-period. The students
gave
demonstrations in stone transportation and mummification, concluding with a
piece of a beautiful mummy-shaped cake.
