Junior Calendar

FALL 2005                           Juniors meet with representatives from colleges they are interested in who
                                           are visiting our campus (only if they have a free period or study hall:
                                           please get a slip from the College Counseling Office to have your teacher
                                           or proctor sign )
                                           Also, Juniors interested in visiting Colleges must get permission to be
                                           absent  from school (see page 8 of the handbook)

OCTOBER 12                      PSAT

OCTOBER 24                      College Fair in Healey Athletic Complex  7:00 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.

JANUARY 19                       Junior College Night

JANUARY -APRIL                Each student meets with our college counselors  to research colleges,
                                           work on essays, and refine interview skills.  Several Junior class meetings
                                           will be held to explain the college admissions process and answer
                                           questions about it.

FEBRUARY 24                     Registration deadline for April 1 SAT

MARCH 3                            Registration deadline for April 8 ACT

APRIL 1                              SAT (Please note:  SAT Subject Tests not administered on this date)

MARCH 5-13                        If possible, students visit colleges during spring vacation.

MARCH 31                           Registration deadline for May 6 SAT

APRIL-MAY                          Students continue to meet with their counselors.

APRIL 8                                ACT

APRIL 28                              Registration deadline for June 3 SAT

MAY 5                                   Registration deadline for June 10 ACT

MAY 6                                   SAT

MAY 1-12                              Juniors take Advanced Placement examinations.

MAY, 2006

• Complete Naviance Milestones

• Confirm your summer plans

• Think about: Who will write my recommendations?

SUMMER, 2006

• Get organized – pick a system that works for you

• Make a family plan of assignments

• Continue with your testing plan by registering for fall tests

• Continue researching colleges and universities

• Get on college mailing lists

• Visit colleges and universities  

• Keep your writing from junior year (think essays)

• Explore application questions

• Work on your resume

JUNE                                    Before school ends, Juniors turn in an accurate, updated list of college
                                            choices to the College Counseling Office.  Students will also have
                                            submitted drafts of college essays to our counselors.

JUNE 3                                  Juniors who have not already done so take the first round of SAT.

JUNE 10                                ACT

JULY-AUGUST                      If possible, students visit college choices and/or arrange for interviews
                                            and visits in the fall.  Students continue to narrow down their college list
                                            and write to colleges for application materials.
